Click/tap for next slide! Extra notes: 1. Among us sketch: - there shouldn't be a gap between its legs. Especially if it is at an angle, one leg should be in front of the other - The visor is not going to be a perfect oval. It should be distorted by the perspective as shown in my sketch. - The backpack goes too low, as the bottom is well below the point where the body splits into the two legs. 2. Stick figure sketch: - Due to the lack of neck, the figure looks hunched over, or like it's pulling its shoulders way up. You can fix this by thinking of the body as a rounded cylinder, with a sphere for the head on top - The sharp corners of the body should be rounded, and the legs should come from under the body, not from the corners. - Instead of drawing an L shape for the feet, you can draw a little ball, same as the hands - To draw a stick figure pointing, draw a ball at the end of the arm with a single stick for a finger - Remember you're trying to show something 3-dimensional - the face should be warped a bit to show this more clearly - Show a bit of motion with gestures - generally you should be able to draw a curve through one arm, through the chest, and through the other 3. Speech balloons: - If possible, make speech balloons point to the speaking character's mouth - Generally round speech bubbles are more aesthetically pleasing 4. Colours: - Brighter is not always better! Use more muted colours for the majority of a piece, using bright colours to draw attention to a specific part - To create a shaded version of a colour, *slightly* shift it toward blue, and lower the saturation. The further a colour is from blue, the less you shift it and the more you lower saturation. 5. Shadows: - Shadows will rarely actually be black. Gray/blue work best. Use the same rules as 4 - Shadows are lighter the farther from the object they get 6. Line art notes: - Overall your lines should be about the same width - For details, use slightly thinner lines (like I did on the visor) 7. Colours and shading Part II: - Everything casts a shadow! Don't shade the stick figure and not the among us character! 8. Backgrounds - Don't use a colour that is separated from the background by only a line. Because there is white on the stick guy's head and in the speech bubble, I used gray
