One of which was the African God Legba. Legba was generally called Papa Legba and he had many versions of him such as the trickster. People mostly thought of him as the guardian Poto Mitan. Some thought he had to give permission to one for someone to inherit another's body according to nps.gov. Legba was sort of like the Greek goddess Hecate and the Greek God Hermes, taking traits from being the guardian of the crossroads from Hecate, and being a trickster from Hermes. They are also very much like their counterparts in Amerindian mythology.
