Double click the green flag twice to start the game. Use the mouse to move the green paddle. When the cat hits the green paddle, it will change directions. Keep the cat from touching the red line. If the cat touches the red line, the game is over. To win, keep the cat off of the red line long enough to read the entirety of the text.
It was really fun for me to create a multimodal translation of my own. From combining the visual, aural, and verbal realms, I was able to realize just how many complexities multimodality adds to the world of translation. From font type to which sound file to use, I learned that translators must make many more decisions when translating a multimodal text. It was also fun for me to come back to Scratch, a popular coding website from my childhood, after a long couple of years. I started when I was in fifth grade, and I can’t believe I’m creating a project now in university!
