Hi! This is the first chapter of my new story, Shattered Mirror. This may become a comic later on but probably not. Camoes maybe. If you want to draw a thumbnail, ask! :D Anyway, on with the show! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- First: You are here Next: Nov 22nd Previous: N/A ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 Marigold woke up. She yawned and stretched her arm. Marigold looked at the window to see where the sun was, but outside it was dark and cloudy. The air smelled like rain and a heavy storm. “At least the weather matches my mood,” Marigold complained out loud to no one. She knew it was early since one of her handmaids hadn’t woken her. Marigold hopped out of bed and rang the bell, signaling one of her handmaids to come up. Marigold went and sat at the vanity and waited for one of her handmaids to arrive. “Highness,” called a soft voice at the door. It was Max, Marigold’s favorite handmaid. “You rang. Can I come in?” “Max! Come in,” Marigold called with a smile spreading across her face. At least something was good today. The door creaked and Marigold heard Max’s footsteps as she stepped in and walked over to the vanity where Marigold was sitting. “How may I serve you today, highness?” “Max. As I’m sure you already know, my mother has arranged for me to meet a suitor today, so I need you to help me get ready.” “Of course highness. What dress were we thinking?” “Something fitted, but not too fitted. And not a lot showing, please.” “Of course highness. Let me go grab an option.” Max walked into the closet and Marigold heard dresses rustling around. “How’s this one?” Marigold turned around as Max walked out of the closet. Marigold stared at the dress. It was too fancy for Marigold’s taste, but just what her mom was expecting. It was a deep, midnight blue with black trim. The skirt was full and almost as big as a ball gown skirt. The neckline dipped a little too low for Marigold’s taste but otherwise, the dress was perfect. Marigold smiled. “That’s perfect Max.”
