This was the way Elm lived for millennium, but recently a group of hunters developed technology to reign and control an incarnation of a grand spirit. A particularly brave one lured Elm into a vulnerable position, and captured them. It's been a few years since then and Elm has been under the hunter's control ever since. They tend to use it for malicious things, since the form it takes is a powerful large drake, which he hates.
