The Green Hornet was a B-24D that ditched on May 27th, 1943 on a search and rescue mission after an engine failure due to mechanical issues. It took down all but 3 crew members, Olympic athlete Louie Zamperini Russell Allen Phillips, and Francis "Mac" McNamara. On night 1, McNamara had eaten all the food leaving the men to hunt for food themselves. All the men survived 33 days until Mac died after expending his energy saving Russell's and Louie's life from shark attacks. After 47 days of living in nothing but a raft, surviving shark and Japanese bomber attacks a Japanese ship found them, and the 2 men spent the rest of the war in Japanese slave camps.
