Yule or the winter solstice is a pagan holiday celebrated from Dec 21 to Jan 1 (the 12 days). It represents the returning of the sun after the darker half of the year. Some common symbols are the yule log, pine, lights, and the colors red and green. You can celebrate by burning a yule log, or eating a chocolate one, hanging lights, lighting candles, decorating a tree, or simply waking up early to welcome the sun.
