~ about me ~ my name is autumn! i've actually been a member for about a year and a half, which is surprising to think about. i'm a musician, mainly a vocalist, but i also play piano and cello. ~ more information about me ~ i am somewhere in the range 14-16 years old, a high school sophomore. my timezone is EST, and i'm not online at consistent times more often than not. typically i'm online in the morning, around 9-12 am. some days i'm online until about 2-3 pm, but i'm almost never online after that. my irl life can get really chaotic and busy, since i do a lot both academically and musically. ~ why i would be a good manager ~ i think that i would be a good manager because i like to help others as much as possible, and i often strive to find ways to resolve conflicts. whenever i see vents, advice, or euphoria requests, i always try to respond. i try to interact with as many people as i can, comfort those that need it, and have fun! ~ downsides to me being a manager ~ i'm not online at consistent times, and sometimes i have to leave suddenly or am unable to come back online for awhile. i'm also frequently offline on weekends, as i'm too busy to use my devices. ~ unique things i could bring to the position ~ i'm honestly unsure if i could say anything unique. i would try to resolve conflicts, come up with helpful and new solutions. i would want to be the manager people can come talk to, no matter what. and of course, i would find various new methods of causing (controlled) chaos. ~ my stance on gaehive issues~ 1. hostility towards newcomers it's ridiculous. all of us were once newcomers to the gaehive, and while there are people that do sockpuppet, and there are always people that want to harm our community, we need to really take the rule "assume good faith" seriously. we should not be excluding or not interacting with newcomers, solely because they're new and we don't know them yet. 2. venting i think that if members need to vent, they should do so on their profile or a project and then link that to the gaehive. i know that venting studios have ended poorly in the past, and that vents in the gaehive are often not responded to. this feels like the best solution to me. 3. ignored advice/euphoria comments these should have a studio!! i know that there's already an advice studio, but there should be a studio specifically for euphoria comments. i know that i would check it every time i opened scratch. and people could always continue to request euphoria in the main studio, or say that they posted in the euphoria studio. managers could also occasionally remind members about the studio. 4. exclusionism honestly, i feel that the only solution to this would be to inform people about different identities. i know that personally, i love learning about people's identities. maybe a studio could be created, with projects by members and managers, explaining identities with information from people who identify that way and issues they face. 5. trigger warnings i think that rule 12, if someone asks for a tw, use it, is good and should be kept in place. i think that there could be a short list of topics that generally need tws, and members could ask managers if they need trigger warnings for specific topics.
~ what i would improve about the gaehive ~ i would try to improve the overall atmosphere as much as possible. i remember how the studio used to be, and while i don't think that level of hyperactivity is necessary, we used to be a lot more positive and interactive with each other. i would try to make sure that all members feel included, regardless of their identities. i would also try to be fun, and do some fun things for members. controlled chaos is a favorite of mine >:D ~ manager recommendations ~ @cerroverb ! aya is an amazing person. i feel like her exposing the trans-misogyny in the studio improved it. she was able to make her point concisely, didn't cause drama, and made actionable suggestions for what to do to fix it. @MossIsQueer ! moss is a fantastic person. they are kind to members, and have a way of reminding people of rules without coming across as rude. i can't think of any very specific instances of them improving the studio, but i think they could do a lot as a manager. @GaehivePaneraBread ! a) panera is hilarious. b) panera is amazing. c) panera is positive. thank you for coming to my ted talk. /j but in all seriousness, panera is the definition of controlled chaos. she can always make me laugh, and she frequently brings the mood of the studio up. thank you for reading this! :)
