Name: Maia Age: Appears to be around 14 to 16 Pronouns: She/Her Backstory(There are probably typos in here, I'm sorry): Originally she was a sea monster, but due to her standing up to another sea monster that had magic/more magic than she had she was cursed into a human/humanoid form She wakes up on a beach coast, and she doesn’t remember anything. Not even her own name. She’s wearing a t-shirt, cargo shorts, sandals and a necklace. Spoiler alert her necklace contains her trapped true form, but she’s unaware, because her memories were wiped when she was cursed Someone calls out a name(which is Maia) she looks around to see if she sees anyone else, but she doesn’t find anyone except for an angry looking humanoid with similar features as her(Not like in the way that they’re related in the way that they also have a fish like tail with fins and gills, and also a bracelet with a gem indented on it). The humanoid marches to Maia and gives her a scolding then drags her home. Not knowing what else to do she just comes with them. Because of the memory loss, her personality and identity is similar to her old self, but not quite the same, and she’s started to have dreams of a creature, a monster, that feels eerily similar to her, and that she should know who they are, but she doesn’t quite remember. Kind of like a friend you used to be extremely close to before something happened and you drifted apart from them. In her dreams the creature demands to be released, and pleads for her to remember. Other times she is the monster in her dreams with vague memories tugging at the back of her mind. Like when you want to say something but you wait too long and then forget what you wanted to say. It bugs you, because you know you wanted to say something and that it was important, but you can't quite recall what. Sometimes it even haunts her when she’s awake. She’ll occasionally feel as if someone’s watching her, but when she turns she only can see her shadow shifting behind her. Sometimes if she looks hard enough at her shadow it starts to shift, but whenever she blinks it returns to normal Basically what happened is that in this village are the others that defied the tyrant??(the sea monster with powers), and because of that they were also cursed, and their “true forms”(their monster forms) are trapped inside a gem which is somewhere on their person. Every time someone new is transformed and brought there the other people who were already there get fake memories dropped into their brains. The new person should also have memories of living here, but for some reason Maia can’t remember a thing. Maia had some form of magic when she was a sea monster and was able to counter some of the magic, and her old self is trying to return her to who she used to be.

This is actually the second reference I made, but because I think this gives more info on her it goes first. 3. This is the first reference that I actually made. The art was for me to be able to remember what everything looked like, and I wanted to try drawing a character from the back. 4. I was taught about the magical multiply layer, and this was me messing around with it. This was super fun to make, and for some reason I really like how the bubbles came out. Overall one of my favorite pieces of art that I've made. 5. I was in the mood to make characters into tarot cards, so that exactly what I did. I also got markers for Christmas, so I tried them out on this piece.(There are 2 progress pictures, and a finished picture. Unfortunately the final picture has the worst quality.) 6. More turning characters into tarot cards, except this is digital. 7. I was bored and wanted to draw Maia in my more chibi art style, so I did I wish I could have drawn more, but artblock hit me like a truck. :skull:
