Daily Nov. 29th I sprawled out on the hardwood floor, enjoying the beautiful feeling of the summer sun coating my entire fluffy body. I loved my fluffy body, and the way it absorbed heat like this. It made me feel warm and fluffy inside. I laid like that for a while longer, just enjoying my life, until I heard a noise behind me. A human. That’s what I liked to call the big, weird, clumsy cats that lived in this place with me. I lifted my head, trying to get a glimpse of who dared interrupt my exquisite nap. It was the mean one. I hated him. He usually kept to himself, though. I laid my head back down with a flick of my tail. It was time to resume my nap. To my surprise, though, I watched as he began to move towards the door. Was this it?! Was this my chance to ESCAPE?!?!?! (I purposefully forgot the hundreds of times this had happened before and I hadn’t escaped. I had to have some kind of hope to keep me sane.) I ran up towards the door, prepared for him to open it. He just huffed, shoving me out of the way. I yowled in betrayal, baring my teeth. Before I could strike, though, the door was already closed behind him. I growled, going back to my nap position. So much for hope. At least I still had the sun. I couldn’t stop thinking about the outside, though. I’d been out there once (before they caught me), and it had been wonderful. There was so much sun - not just from a window, but from everywhere. There was grass, and trees, and bugs, and most importantly freedom. I had to get out there. Filled with new determination, I ran up to the door again, prepared to run the moment it opened. And I did. Weaving between the human’s legs with never-before-seen speed, I made it out onto the grass - and, so he couldn’t catch me, even farther. I ran into the woods behind the house and beyond. I was free.
