Wait for the world to loud (Shift-click the green flag to make it go faster. Shift-click it again when it is done). Once the world is done generating, select a gamemode (Creative or Survival). Type "Add (Coal, Iron, etc.)" to put that item in the furnace. Type "start" to start the furnace.
