This is an illustration of the Pythagorean Theorem. Simply put, it states that in a right triangle, the square of the longest side is equal to the sum of the squares of the shorter sides. It can be expressed with the following equation: a² + b² = c² When the dividing line is displayed, it divides c² in two.
