Chapter 4 Brandon Oct 24 Tues. 12:20 English Bathroom Brandon was staring terrified into the mirror. Elizabeth’s face had become distorted and misshapen, her jaw was unhinged and crooked, She seemed to be screaming and clawing at the glass. Brandon was so terrified he couldn’t move. He could hear her banging on the mirror as blood started to drip from her clawing at it. She started to hit it harder and more violently, then her blackened, bloody hand broke through the mirror. Brandons heart stopped as his instincts took in and he darted down the hall. He could still hear her trying to escape the mirror and her piercing screams. He ran only looking back once to see nothing, he couldn’t hear her screams anymore either. His heart was still hammering against his chest as the bell rang and the halls started to fill with students. His mind was running with every question possible as he tried to get his phone out of his pocket, his hands shaking terribly. He stumbled into his next class, which just so happened to be with Jessica. “Why weren’t you at lunch earlier?” She asked but then noticed that Brandon still had a terrified expression on his face. “What’s wrong? Are you ok?” She asked worriedly. “I-I’ll te-tell you later.” He stutters and takes his seat quietly. As Brandon sat down, he thought to himself. “How did no one hear her screams? They were, ear piercing screams and sounded like a fingernail on a chalkboard.”
The rest of the day was a blur, students passing him in the halls, teachers teaching their lessons, and before Brandon knew it he was walking to his midnight blue GMC sierra to go home. Just as he got to his truck he heard someone call out, “Brandon!” He turned around to see who it was and saw Brandon and Katie walking towards him. When they got closer he could see worried expressions on their faces and asked them, “what’s wrong?” “You! You didn’t show up at lunch and you didn’t say anything to us during study hall or gym. What’s wrong?” Katie asks. “Nothing, I’ll tell you guys later.” He says, as he remembers what happened during lunch and his face filled with fear once more. “No, we're all going to go to the cáfe after school and you’re going to tell us what’s up.” Katie says with a sense of finality in her voice. “We can’t.” Spencer speaks up. “We have football and basketball practice.” Spencer reminds Katie. “Shit, I forgot about that. Fine, we'll meet up after you guys finish your practice.” Katie says. “Fine.” Brandon says. They say quick goodbyes as Brandon gets into his truck and backs out the parking lot slowly.
