| Chapter Eight | OHMYGOD. OHMYGOD. OHMYGOD. I still can’t believe that actually just happened. Who could’ve thought that CRYSTAL of all people would’ve… You know. But wow. Wasn’t expecting that. And to make matters worse, Jane is coming tomorrow. TOMORROW. And I thought castle life was crappy. I guess runaway life is worse. I should’ve realized that before I came here. BUT OH MY GOD. CRYSTAL?! And she’s just acting like nothing happened. This is weird. “Rose? Dear, could you come downstairs?” “Oh- um- sure-” I ran down the stairs and jumped over the last two. “Rose. Please don’t jump,” Nanny said, greeting me at the bottom of the stairs. “You’ll trip and break a bone.” “And we don’t want that to happen because. . .?” Crystal asked in a mocking tone as she appeared in a doorway. “I personally think a broken bone would be fun. I wouldn’t have to do chores.” See? I told you she was acting like nothing happened. Nanny glared at her. “You wish. Just for that comment, you have double chores, broken bones or not.” Crystal sighed. “Fantastic.” “Now, Rose, I’d like you to go to the shops please,” Nanny said, turning to face me. My jaw dropped. “The shops?! As in the shops, shops?” Nanny nodded. “What else?” “You do realize, if I go to the shops there’s a good chance someone will be like: ‘Oh my goodness! It’s Princess Rose! Quick- make her life miserable and call the king and queen!’ and then that fool will end my life!” I exclaimed. Quite loudly, I may add, yet Nanny looked unbothered. She just nodded. “Yes, I know. Which is why you’ll wear this,” she said, walking over to a closet and taking out a long black cloak. Crystal snickered in the background as my jaw dropped again. “I- Are you kidding? You’re kidding right?” I asked in shock. “I’m not going to wear that, right?” “Well you want to blend in right?” Crystal asked, grinning. I sighed. “Not so sure anymore,” I said, taking the cloak from Nanny. “Why these? Can’t I just wear some of yours?” “Because we both know you won’t,” Nanny said, leaning against the table. I don’t mean to be rude, but there was NO way I would wear Nanny’s clothes. They were all muddy. Nanny works very hard for an old lady. “You’re right,” I admit, unfolding the cloak. It was dusty and had old crusty mud on it. “But this isn’t exactly perfect either.” “Deal with it,” Nanny said. Crystal chuckled from the back of the room. “Oh shut up,” I groaned, as I put the cloak on. It was much more uncomfortable than I would have expected, but if nobody sees me, I guess it’s worth it. “Not gonna lie, you’re pulling off that look pretty well, Rosey.” “Please just SHUT UP.” “You got it Rosey!” Nanny smiled and said, “Don’t worry dear. You look fine. Here’s the list, have fun, good bye.” She handed me the list of items to get and shooed me out the door. OHMYGOD. OHMYGOD. OHMYGOD. I still can’t believe that actually just happened.
