⸙ WoodClan's ranks work a bit differently than those in the Warriors books, so here's a quick guide to what you can expect!! <3 - [ HIGH RANKS ] ⸙ leader: You guessed it! This cat is in charge of nearly everything in the Clan and has near full authority over everyone else. Any decisions must be run by the current leader, and if they aren't, that cat or group of cats may be punished however the leader sees fit. These cats are chosen by the Council of Elders and are blessed with the suffix -star. ⸙ healer: These cats are blessed with the suffix either -remedy or -cure, and they have extensive knowledge of herbs and cures to ailments faced by WoodClan cats. There can only be one healer at a time, although a healer may take on an apprentice at a kitten's trainee ceremony with the leader and Council of Elder's permission. ⸙ seer: Mysterious cats, seers. While considered a High Rank, seers are often regarded as unusual or even frightening to a normal WoodClan cat. Similar to a healer, there may only be one seer at a time but a seer may take an apprentice at any kitten's trainee ceremony with permission from the Council of Elders and the leader. The job of a seer is to read the stars, the stone, the trees. They receive prophecies and omens often, although no cat can tell if it's because they're looking for them or if they're truly being sent. A seer receives the suffix -omen or -sight after graduating their apprenticeship. ⸙ council of elders: Once a cat reaches 75 moons, they officially retire into a position of power: The Council of Elders. This only applies to Middle Ranks, however, cats who are already High Ranks do not retire until death. Becoming a Councilmember is highly anticipated and generally regarded as being a reward for living so long, for being a strong asset to WoodClan. These cats are consulted in most every major decision, and often entrusted with the leader's deepest troubles. At the event of a leader's death, the Council of Elders is responsible for collectively choosing a new leader. The same goes for if a seer or healer dies without an apprentice. [ MIDDLE RANKS ] note: These ranks are gained after passing the Trial, or graduating apprenticeship. Upon gaining one of these ranks, a cat will gain their suffix. ⸙ providers: The hunters and foragers of the Clan, these cats are tasked with tracking, kiIIing, and bringing back prey. They are often fast and skilled in their area, and they are regarded highly in the minds of most of their Clanmates even while being Middle Ranks. Providers are in charge of gathering not only food but nest-building materials, any strange items, and any herbs the healer requests. ⸙ guards: The most muscular of the Clan, guards have several jobs: to fight in the event of a battle, and to guard the camp in shifts. Guards are especially looked up to in the event of a raid or battle, and they are the best shot at protecting the kits, queens, and Councilmembers. These cats may also get a special assignment, tasked to guard one of the High Ranks. ⸙ watchers: Watchers of WoodClan are the most lithe and sleuthed, often taking patrols to the border and sometimes even scouting outside WoodClan's territory. These cats are the planners of attacks, the watchers of the night. ⸙ queens: The parents of kits, residing in the nursery while the kit is weaned. These cats are regarded rather highly as they are the beginning of a new generation. These cats go back to their normal job after their kit becomes a trainee. [ LOW RANKS ] trainees / apprentices (terms interchangeable) These cats are apprenticed at five moons of age. Instead of being assigned a particular job, these cats will train under scouts, hunters, and guards. Usually an adolescent will begin to find their desired job and start to train under cats of that rank a few moons in, but it is not /required/ to choose until a cat is of 15 moons. At this time, the cats of the group a trainee decides to join will decide a Trial, or a task, for them to compete in. If they pass, they will graduate and become. that rank. kits: From 0-5 moons, these cats generally stay in the nursery. They have only a prefix, chosen by their parents, and usually spend their time napping or playing games. prisoners: Taken hostages from a different Clan or outsiders, this role is usually not filled and normally reserved for extreme cases.
