The clouds were almost poisonous as I felt them being inhaled through my nose, sending me into a coughing fit as I struggled to breathe. But after my first encounter here, this moment truly wasn’t that bad. I exhaled the seemingly poisonous gasses as we drifted to the ground. The boats soaring past us seemed to not notice our presence. My feet slowly gilded until they landed softly on the ground, gravel moving slightly under my feet. I looked to my side, expecting to see her but to no avail. She had disappeared. One moment next to me, the next nowhere to be seen. I gazed around my surroundings, everything moving in a time-lapse around me. The tall buildings loomed over me, blaring neon signs seemed to be plastered on every wall. The lights blared, the people rushing around me blending into them. When suddenly my gaze was shot at a single person. A single beam of spotlight fell on them as I gazed at their face. It seemed so familiar but yet so distant. Behind them stood a wall of dripping, black, goo. Like I had seen in the empty void. The goo slowly moved forward, reaching out with its murky hands to engulf the figure. Right as it was about to swallow them whole two words were muttered from the figures mouth. “Wake. up.” Suddenly, my wrists stung like they had just been impaled, I tried screaming for help but it was as if someone had sewed my mouth closed. The agony overtook me as the world slowed around me. The neon signs blinked out, flickering intensely as sparks flew. I could barely breathe, warm tears streaming down my face felt like burning as I struggled to stay standing. So I hadn’t, I fell to my knees, writhing in unbearable pain. Ringing in my ears rang through my head, my pupils dilating as I sobbed silently, trying to pry open my mouth. But suddenly, just as quick as it had started, it stopped. The world resumed its normal pace, I was standing back up, my face was dry, and my wrists didn't sting.
