“Alright guys, pair up with a friend or two and get started with your projects!” Mrs. Williams said to us after she explained our first project we were assigned to do. Immediately, I got up out of my seat and walked right over to River. Em and Elliot aren’t in my class though, so I was only working with River unless she gets somebody else to join us. “So, what’s this project really about? I wasn’t paying attention,” I ask River as I laugh. “Really? I never expected you of all people to not pay attention in class,” River responds. She also begins laughing. “Yeah, the time in London is around five P.M. so I’m usually taking a nap right now.” I laugh. Ringggg. Once the bell rings, everyone quickly packs up and rushes out of the room to their next class. My personal next class is art. Neither River, Em, or Elliot are in my art class I don’t believe, but I hope to make a few friends. When I arrive at my art class, outside the door is a woman - most likely a, or the teacher. She is wearing a bright polka-dotted dress with a black cardigan over the top of it. I can’t help but notice that she looks like my friend Madeline from back in London. I have her phone number, but I still miss her. As I walk into the room, the woman greets me with a warm “Good morning!” I smile and reply, “Good morning!” About three minutes later, the bell rang, indicating that passing period is over, the teacher walks into the classroom. As I slowly veer my eyes to the large whiteboard filling up the entirety of the wall which the door was on, it said “Ms. Taylor” in big bold calligraphy letters. I assume that is the teacher's name. “Hello class! As you may have seen, I am Ms. Taylor, and I will be your teacher for this year!” Ms. Taylor announces, now standing in the front of the room. As the class continued, Ms. Taylor told us about a year two like project to do. “Today, you will be completing an all about me drawing in her sketchbook.” “But that’s stupid!” one kid shouts as he raises his hand up as if he is asking a question. “Well if you think it’s stupid, then why are you in this class?” Ms. Taylor asks him politely. The room suddenly gets silent and the boy's friend starts laughing.
