⬫◊ Chapter 14: The Burrow ◊⬫ “Ginny, Aurora, dinner!!” said a voice from the kitchen. She was Molly Weasley, the one and only mother of the best-known redhead family in the entire wizarding world. They were upstairs, painting their nails, braiding their hair, listening to music and everything you would expect from two eleven-year-old girls. They had only known each other a couple of days, when Aurora arrived with Remus, but they had hit it off quite well since then. “Come on, I'm hungry!” They heard Ron protest. They laughed and hurried downstairs. Unlike the other days, the table was set in the living room. Aurora couldn't help but smile when she saw the cause of such a change. “Dad brought this… box from work. He says we can watch something called a movie on that” Ron said pointing to a tv. "Is incredible! These muggles... I wonder how they managed to make those little people over there move without magic..." said Mr. Weasley, amazed. Aurora laughed. Even though her mother was a witch, she had spent her entire childhood living among muggles, so it was just hilarious to see how Arthur got excited about every simple non-magical invention. "It's a recording. It's made with electricity and…” “Electri-what?” "It's a-" “No smart-aleck speech at the table, please! So much knowledge takes away my hunger!” Fred protested, putting a hand dramatically to his chest. George, next to him, laughed as he pretended to comfort him. Percy rolled his eyes, looking at them with an air of superiority. “I apologize for his attitude, Aurora, they are not used to dealing with serious people” She nodded seriously, trying her best not to burst out laughing like the twins. The last thing she remembered from that night was sitting on the couch between Ron and Ginny to watch an animated movie after finishing her delicious plate of chicken, courtesy of Mrs Weasley, who turned out to be a much better cook than Remus. Perhaps it was the effect of her food, or simply the tiredness of the day, that caused Aurora to fall asleep in the living room, curled up on a red and rather fluffy cushion. She woke up still next to Ginny when she heard laughter next to them. “Good morning, sleeping beauties” George smiled. Next to him, Fred was swinging a considerably large pile of letters in the air. He brought them closer, pretended to adjust imaginary glasses, and began to read the names on them. “Lyra, Albert, Michael, Hermione, Emma… wow, so many letters. In the end you are going to be more popular than us” “Give them to me, Fred” Aurora said, getting up from the couch. He laughed and held up the cards so she couldn't reach them. “Not so fast, Ravenclaw… Wait, what do we have here?” He said with a mischievous smile. “Gabriel… and well, better yet, Nott” “Give them to me. Now” Aurora repeated, this time with more vigor, trying to get the letters back. “Is that blush I'm seeing?” George added with the same smirk as his brother when he saw her white cheeks had turned a soft pinkish color. “Of course, Georgie. Maybe we should check out what it says” Fred joked. “Merlin, don't you know what the word privacy means?” They both looked into each other's eyes and laughed until finally, Fred handed the letters to Aurora. “Don't worry, your secret is safe with us” he winked. “Well, as long as you accept our conditions” She took the cards and raised an eyebrow. “What conditions?" Just ten minutes later, Aurora found herself flying over the Weasleys' curious, ramshackle house on a broomstick. Apparently, the twins' concept of condition meant doing whatever they wanted for an hour... and, of course, what would two 14-year-old Gryffindors want if not to do quidditch practice? At first it might seem funny, as poor Ron thought while complaining there were no brooms left from the ground, but Aurora would have gladly given him hers. In fact, she would have given anything to get off that flying contraption, because what she didn't know was that her mission was to try to avoid the bludgers that the twins launched with almost perfect aim. “Don't worry, Aurora, we won't be too hard on you... I don't want to imagine Mom's punishment if you were to get even the slightest scratch because of us” George shouted, raising his voice so that she could hear him from a distance. And that's how they started playing. At first, Aurora flew around scared, avoiding the bludgers, but as time went by, she relaxed more and more until she even enjoyed the wind playing with her curls. “You should try out for your team, Arie” Remus said from the ground. He'd just arrived, and he was looking at her with a tired smile. Aurora, realizing his presence, went down to hug him. She was sure he had a few more scars than the last time she saw him. “Everything okay at work?” she asked innocently. He nodded. “Are you feeling better now?” Aurora looked down before answering with a nod. Remus gave her another hug and turned to Molly, behind him. “Thanks for taking care of her. See you next month?”
