Patroclus' limbs grew tired and numb, but he still clung to the tree branch. He trembled and shook, sure the fire would come back and finish him off. All of a sudden, a wave of calm washed over him. Patro stilled, muscles relaxing. He opened one eye and blinked through his red glasses. A cat was perched on the tree branch with him. A flickering grey and purple cat. No... It was white now. Female. She almost looked like Juliett. Patroclus' eyes widened, "Jules!" He croaked, lungs aching from the smoke. "You're alright!" He went to get up, but the figure backed away, "I'm sorry," he saw her say, "I'm not sure who Jules is. I'm... My name is..." The figure trailed off and Patroclus felt something sink deep in his heart. It was hard to feel anything too heavy though, right now. For whatever reason, he felt so at ease. "I'm sorry." He murmured, "you look like her." "Oh... Do I?" The figure responded. Patroclus swallowed, "My names Patroclus." The figure shot him a sad smile, "I know." It seemed to glitch and for a moment, a purplish grey cat stared back at him. And then it was gone. Patroclus felt the sense of calm fade away. He was rational now, but something hit him, he needed to find Juliett. He climbed down the tree slowly, taking off running as soon as he hit the ground. He could fee tremors everywhere. The world was coming to an end all around him. He dashed into danger, not willing to give up on his friend. There was a violent shake in the ground, not dissimilar to when the cannons go off. His heart sank, "Jules!!" He yelled, "Juliett!" He sprinted through fire and holes in the ground. It was only once he came across a tree the something urged him to pause. There, in plain sight, was Juliett's necklace. Patroclus reeled back, head turning around, "Jules? Jules, I'm right here." The area was charred, the path of the flames and lava evident. Nonono. Patroclus grabbed the necklace, breath hitching in his chest. She had to be okay. He had just seen her this morning. He had slept next to her last night. They had laughed at some stupid joke. And both cried a little bit at the same joke. She was still alive. He'd watch the sky at night and see her face wasn't up there. He knew it. He gripped the necklace for dear life and crept backwards into some bushes to nurse some wounds he only now was beginning to feel. She would be okay. She had to be.
Rip Juliett :(( Patroclus loved you so much. He'd have died for you in a heartbeat.
