In this lesson, I will be teaching you the pinyin of simplified mandarin Chinese, you might think of Chinese as just its characters (such as 你好), which it isn't. Pinyin is pretty much the pronunciations of the characters. for example, The pinyin to 你好 (as shown above and this means hi or hello in chinese.) is ni hao, this would be pronounced k nee-how, however in chinese there is something called tonal marks, these tell you how to pronounce it accuratly, suchas Nǐ hǎo. the four tonal marks are shown below. The is just like you not varying your tone at all, the second one you raise your tone as you say the word, the third one you lowing your tone a little but overall it rises and the last one you have to lower your tone very quickly while saying the word. In the next lesson I will teach you how to know what letter to place the tonal marks on. Bye!
