~The Moon's last wish~ "Mummy, what is the Moon there for?" The little girl asks sitting in her mothers lap, fluttering her wings. "Well, there's a story that my mother taught me, about when the world was young, and when the all the stars were clumped together." The mother says to her daughter. "Once upon a time..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The stars had kept her company for as long as she could remember. When she first came here - she had forgotten when - the stars had been twinkling brightly. But now, there was a dark fog over them like a veil. This, (she assumed) was decades later. One night she saw a glowing light slowly coming toward her. "You have done very well Luna." The voice said. "M- mama?" Luna said "The stars all agree, you deserve a place with them." She felt the light envelop her in warmth, then being lifted into the sky. Moments later, she saw smog coming from the city down below. It was then she realised what she had to do. From then on she watched over the stars, taking care so they didn't fall ill due to the smog. More decades passed, the smog got thicker, and the stars got dimmer and dimmer. Luna realised there was only one option. The stars didn't want her to do it, for their fear of drifting apart, but they soon realised that they were getting weaker and weaker, so they had to do something. That left Luna no choice. So she gathered some stardust, and moulded it into a single glowing object, which she placed in the sky, then Luna blew herself apart, so her soul would scatter into the stars, blowing them apart, but giving them the strength to glow brightly again. To remember their dear friend Luna, they named that glowing object 'The moon' and each gave them a bit of their glow, to thank her for what she did. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Wooooww." Says the little girl. "Is it true Mummy?" She asks her Mother, looking up at her. "Well, do you think it is my star?" The mother says, stroking her daughter. "I think it is." Says the daughter, snuggling up to her mother and falling asleep. The mother smiles softly, and looks toward a portrait of her grandmother, with a name embedded into the picture frame. Luna.
