I honestly really like the context of this. Imagine going to work in an office building (like one normally does) and then suddenly the light goes out, some person on the speakerphone tells you that the dance floor was selected, and then (once the lights go on and the floor tiling has turned into Dance Dance Revolution pads) your coworker tells you that "You need to dance to make it go up." That would be very disorienting, in my opinion.
