This is the true meaning of Christmas. Sure, people may enjoy Santa Claus, but the idea behind Santa was Saint Nick, who was an early Christian Bishop who helped the poor and the sick, which is where Santa Claus came to be. [ABOUT THE NATIVITY] An angel of the Lord, named Gabriel, came to a man named Zacharias, and Gabriel told him "Do not be afraid." And Gabriel told him how his wife Elizabeth will bear a son, his name shall be John, and he would prepare the people for God's deliverer. A little while after this took place, the angel then appeared to a young virgin named Mary, he then explained how she has found favor in God, and she will bear His Son, his name shall be Jesus, and He will rule a kingdom that will never end. Mary, along with Joseph then left to Bethlehem due to a census with Ceaser Agustus. Because Joseph was from the lineage of David, he had to leave from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Because of the census, there was no room for them, except in the stable. So, there, surrounded by the animals, Mary gives birth to Jesus, and lays Him in a manger. In a faraway field, shepherds were watching over their flocks by night when an angel of the Lord appeared to them and said "Do not be afraid, for I bring good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. This shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the baby lying in a manger." Then suddenly, a multitude of angels appeared and sang praises to God. "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill towards men." The shepherds then traveled to Bethlehem and found Jesus just as the angels described it. This is what Christmas is all about, to remember that this day was when the Saviour was born. John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Take time off Christmas to remember the real reason behind it, to honor our Lord and Saviour. Amen
