Tutorial on how to make an exponential graph: First, there is a simple equation for all exponential equations. This is not the one used in the project, this is just an example: Y=3.14(2)^X Y and X are the coordinates, so they’ll never be changed, unless the X & Y are called something else. Y=3.14(2)^X+3 What is the 3.14? Technically, it’s pi, but that’s besides the point. That is the y-intercept, if there isn’t an asymptote. Asymptote will come later. It is also called the vertical stretch(don’t ask me why). If it’s negative, it’ll be reflected over the x axis. Reflected is basically mirroring the graph, on the other side of the x axis. Y=3.14(2)^X+3 What is the 2? That’s called the growth factor. Since it’s 2, every time the x goes up, the y doubles. At one point, it could be (1,3.14) and then (2, 6.28), to (3,12.56). If it’s 3, it triples. If that’s below 1, then instead of the y going up exponentially, it’ll go down exponentially. Y=3.14(2)^X+3 What is the 3? It is the asymptote, from earlier. Adding this to the vertical stretch, or the 3.14, will create the y-intercept. This is the y value that the graph will keep coming VERY close to, but never quite makes it there. Now you know the arts of the exponential equation. Try and create one within this project!
