Heyyyy >:] Here’s a tutorial on how I render skin and hair :D (click) Help Ik there aren’t eyes I got lazy and I already have a separate tutorial for my eyes loll Edit: OMG CURATED??? TYSM @-KittyMax- !!!!!! Another edit: here’s the eye tutorial if y’all want to check it out :) https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/921136129/ Okee dokee here we go: 1. First u gotta get a sketch an lineart, maybe I’ll post another tutorial on that but for now just do yer best 2. Now for the base colors :)) pick something (relatively) neutral even if u want super saturated colors bc the highlights n shadows will bring the colors out more. Also ps the hair and skin are on separate layers with the transparency locked (this helps with coloring inside the lines) 3. First shadows: these are slightly saturated and darker than the base colors, be careful not to go too dark if u want 2 shades of shadows. I place these on the tips of ears, cheeks, the border of the hair and skin, the neck, collarbone, and where the arms overlap on the chest. (I shade more on fullbodies an halfbodies ofc but im not gonna make a separate tut for that) 4. Second shadows: these are slightly saturated and darker than the first shadows. These r for adding a bit of depth and a smoother ish look to the drawings (ps i only recently started regularly adding second shadows and highlights to my drawings and they have improved the look of my drawing sm in my opinion) 5. First highlights: these are slightly desaturated and lighter than the base colors. I usually put them on hair (i can’t rlly explain the shape of my hair highlights lol just look at the pic), tips of noses, shoulders, collarbones, or anywhere else they look cute :3 6: Second highlights: these are slightly desaturated and lighter than the first highlights. These, again, go inside the first highlights to add some depth and layering to the piece. (Also, in this pic i cleaned up the highlights and shadows, and trimmed them down to look sharper. You can leave them round if u want tho) 7: I added a bit of extra highlight sparkles on the hair, but u can add them wherever :3 they just add some character 8: Colored lineart: i did this by locking the lineart layer’s transparency, and coloring it in with a color slightly more saturated and darker than the second shadows. I usually color any lineart inside big shapes (i count the skin as one shape, and the hair as a separate one.) this step is optional tho :3 9: Background: for this step go wild >:DD i usually just do some gradient with a color that compliments the subject of the drawing, then add some lines over it with my signature. 10: Editing!!! This step is totally optional but i love it smmm!! I usually use Adobe Lightroom to decrease the texture and clarity of the drawing, add grain bc ✨aesthetic✨ and sometimes do color correction. Anyshizzle, that’s it!!! If u don’t understand some of the description lmk and i can help more :3
