You don't need to be called human to save a life. --+ -- Chapter One +---- A small boy with fiery hair glared up at the sun, his eyes wincing and throbbing. His skin, although dark, shined like diamonds. He let out a shuddering breath. "Mama, hear my call." He whispered, as though talking to himself. "Show me Papa. Show me he is safe." As a reply, a cold wind blew into the boys ear, as though to say: "I hear." The small boy, named Afri, is a child with both parents gone. His mother died due to the harassment of a random person on the street, who looked, in Afri's eyes, drunk. His father had gone to serve in the army, meaning his brother, age twenty, had to care for him. Trouble was, his brother had a wife, which had a baby named Erian. Having two families, the brother every day had more of a burnout. One summer morning, the sun was burning hot. Afri looked up. There was no call of his father. His heart sank a little as he got up. "Bryan!" He called out to his brother. No reply. Afri remembered Bryan had to visit his son in the hospital, and he wouldn't be back for a while. Sulking, Afri grabbed a sandwich and ran off outside. Suddenly, he paused. People. No, these people were armed. Were they fighting, too? For freedom, or the opposite? His question was soon answered. - + Chapter two + - Afri peaked from a corner he was hiding in. He's seen this man. He squirted his eyes. Could it be? The man he was looking at had squared shoulders and a moustache. Adolf Hitler. Which also meant... The thought his Afri's mind so hard, he let out a shrill gasp. His legs were willing to take him anywhere, and a good thing that was. Many did not know, but he was part Jews, meaning his life was at risk. He squeezed his eyes, nobody could see him safley tucked in behind the boxes. Shrill screams echoed and mothers and daughters were torn apart. All he could think was: Why? - +Chapter Three + - "Hold on, Papa!" Afri made up his mind at last. When the Germans were departing, Afri raced after them, and managed to sneak on without being noticed. His heart raced. One momment ago, he was safe, but now, he didn't know what the heck he was doing. "Goodbye Bryan!" He whispered underneath his breath. "I'm off to find Papa." *** After long hours, Afri finally caught sight of a battlefield. Swiftly, he jumped off the moving crate, and ran across the bloody grass. "Papa!" He howled. "Papa!" A dark man turned his head, his face filled with sweat and dust. Afri ran over and looked at his face. He had found him. After years of waiting. -+ Chapter Four +- Boom Slash Hiss Sounds and battle cries hurt Afri's ears. Papa squeezed him tight as the exploding of bombs flood the air. Screaming suddenly start. Men with guns splatter across. Papa got out his own, and ran out there. Afri stayed. He waited. He waited more. He hoped. Boom A solder ran at Papa rifle in hand. Afri yelped and ran, ran for his fathers life. "STOP!" He yelled. "Don't shoot!" With no hesitation, he jumped in front of his beloved Papa. Boom Slash Afri hit the ground, blood tickling fron him mouth. His eyes met his fathers for the last time. This is how he wanted to d1e, to save his remaining family. "Goodbye, Papa."
