About frogs : ■ Some frogs can jump more than 20 times higher than their own body – the equivalent of a human jumping 30 metres. Frogs cannot live in the sea or in salt water. Frogs have a sticky tongue and use their tongue to catch and swallow food. Frogs are predators, which means they eat meat. ➨ 2. History of frogs: ■ Frogs have been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Frogs have been used as symbols in various cultures and religions. In ancient times, frogs were believed to be able to predict the weather. In the 19th century, scientists discovered frogs were able to regenerate body parts. In 1745, the first scientific description of a frog was published. And since the start of the 20th century, frogs have been studied to great extent for their genetics. Frogs have roamed the earth since the time of the dinosaurs (almost 200 million years). Frogs have adapted to live in many climates and are found on every continent except Antartica. They were among the first animals to appear after the extinction of the dinosaurs. Frogs were once believed to be able to predict the weather. O żabach: ▪ Niektóre żaby potrafią skakać ponad 20 razy wyżej niż ich własne ciało – co odpowiada skokowi człowieka na odległość 30 metrów. Żaby nie mogą żyć w morzu ani w słonej wodzie. Żaby mają lepki język i używają go do łapania i połykania jedzenia. Żaby są drapieżnikami, co oznacza, że jedzą mięso. ➨ 2. Historia żab: ▪ Żaby były używane w medycynie tradycyjnej od wieków. Żaby były używane jako symbole w różnych kulturach i religiach. W starożytności wierzono, że żaby potrafią przepowiadać pogodę. W XIX wieku naukowcy odkryli, że żaby potrafią regenerować części ciała. W 1745 roku opublikowano pierwszy naukowy opis żaby. Od początku XX wieku żaby były szeroko badane pod kątem ich genetyki.
