1. I read 100 pages of The Taliban Cricket Club. I was recommended it by a friend. At the start, you get introduced to Rukhsana, a journalist, who was prevented from working by the Taliban. I enjoyed the different ways the different time frames (now and Delhi) linked together especially as you get introduced to different characters in different ways who end up playing a large role in the story. A charater (high up in the gov. but i can't remember his position) announces that Afghanistan will trial out to be a member of the ICC. teams of citizens from across the country will compete in a match and the winning team will be sent to Pakistan for more training - the perfect opportunity to flee. Rukhsana, having previously played cricket, decides to teach ehr family how to play. 2. I read 3 chapters of The Cruel Prince. At the start of the book, a mysterious man enters, orphans three children: Jude and Taryn and their sister Vivi. throughout the first three chapters, we learn that Vivi is actually a Faerie and Jude and Taryn's mother used to be married to Vivi's biological father. I chose this books, as the characters are really close to each other and willing to help each other. for example, two characters, who have only just met, are willing to risk their lives for each other, so one of them can succeed in their task. additionally, other characters, wait for each other and help each other, not wanting to leave the other behind on their trek. 5. I read 11 pages of The Taloban Cricket Club. In the next part of the books, we learn about how the antagonist wishes to marry the protagonist and th(r)eatans the protagonists family if that is not the case. Rukhsana and her family agree that she should not marry, and she tries to plan her escape from Afghanistan. desperate for money to leave, she sends a letter to her past lover (who she was meant to be married to) in hope he will fund her escape. 6. I read 45 pages of The Cruel Prince. In this part of the book, Jude is about to go to a Faerie ball. we get introduced to a lot of the countries in the Faerie world, such as Balekin and Dain, and we start to see their relationships. we also learn events and happenings about Jude's past. additionally, Vivi takes Jude and Taryn back to the human world to meet her girlfriend resulting in Jude injuring someone terribly. 8. 10 minute sprint (12 pages) of The Taliban Crickt Club. here, Rukhsana's hiding becomes more serious and she cannot be seen by anybody close up if she is not dressed as a male. three young girls, who she would normally teach, go to her house in waiting for her, but they get sent back home, due to the risk of anybody seeing her. Rukhana and her brother also plan her future once she has escaped from Afghanistan. 9. I read 15 minutes (18 pages) of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow whilst drinking water. at the start of this book, we get introduced to the two protagonists - Sadie and Sam. we also learn about how they met each other: Sadie's sister Alice was in the hospial, due to her having Leukemia. Sadie gets sent out of the hospital room by her mother and goes to the game room where she meets Sam. i would give this book a 13/14+ rating because some stuff happens later. 10. I read 100 pages of The Cruel Prince. In the next 100 pages, A LOT of drama happens. Jude gets poisoned by Faerie fruit, which cause her to become completely senseless and so blindly follow every command given to her, leading to chaos. She is also enlisted by Prince Dain to become one of his spies to ensure he becomes next-in-line to the throne.
