Shadow fell to his knees, tears flooding down his cheeks, soaking his face inside the mask he was wearing. He looked at Knight, hoping that he was making a very terrible joke, but he saw the sadness in his eyes. His lover was dead, and his family was forever gone. He wasn’t even there to give them a final goodbye.
Knight kneeled by Shadow, placing a hand on his shoulder. “I'm sorry, Shadow… But, we have no king, and we need one, you have to take the place of the king. We all know he would’ve loved seeing you on the throne.” “A king with no pride?” Shadow asked, sorrowful. . Knight, who was worried, shuffled to his body to be in front of him. He was already shorter than the man, but sitting like this made him look even shorter compared to the tall shadowy figure. . “Let's get you inside…” Knight helped Shadow get up and walked inside the castle.“You should get some rest. You need it anyways..” Said Knight, a hint of sadness in his voice. “Mhmf.” Shadow grunted, as they got closer to the chamber, and then they entered the king’s chamber. Shadow flopped onto the bed, and sleep took him, as he was exhausted. Knight sighed and turned to leave, but Shadow had a tight grip on his arm, and wouldn’t be letting go anytime soon. Knight just gave up and sat down on the bed, and sleep took him soon after.
