Orbs are MANDATORY in order to cast spells. However, you can beat the game without needing spells (this will change in future updates) ▹ Earth spell (brown): Q (beats all) ▹ Poison spell (green): W (beats fire) ▹ Fire Spell (red): E (beats ice) ▹ Ice Spell (blue): R (beats poison) ▹ If your mana counter hits zero, you have to cast another spell in order for it to start reloading. If you don't see the spell slot say "[type of magic] empty," you gotta cast another spell for it to start reloading ▹ Your spell slots will appear at the bottom of the screen. There's also been an update to how the levels look, as well as how the spells (when cast) look. ▹ There are also checkpoints now, as well as a health bar!
