My Camp Astrophila Leader Application! Question order: Earth - About Me Jupiter - Experience Saturn - Dedication Mars - Benefits Uranus - Time Management Venus - Preferred Cabins Neptune - Atmosphere Mercury - Goals In case you can't read it, here's my answer for each question: 1. My name is Pearl. My pronouns are she/her, and my time zone is PCT. I love reading, acting, writing, and singing in my free time. I also like listening to music, and if you haven’t guessed by now, especially Taylor Swift (and) Olivia Rodrigo, and (I love) astrology. 2. I haven’t led or hosted any scratch camps, but I have participated in SWC during 2023’s November session and SIC + SRC during the 2023 December session. Some leadership experience I have outside of scratch is that I help with my sister’s girl scout troop and I intern at my local theater company. I think this really improved my leadership skills and how to take control because it was hard getting the kids to listen in both, but after I kept trying, they followed my instructions and I had a good time. 3. If I’m chosen, I’m willing to dedicate 2-3 hours a day to update the cabin and such. I will be on vacation from the 1st to the 4th of April, but I’ll be on for at least 1 hour a day then. 4. I think I should be chosen as a leader because, first of all, I’m responsible. For example, I keep my promises and don’t lie. Also, I encourage people. This is important because I can help my campers reach their goals fast and encourage them to keep going when it seems like their goal is so far away. Lastly, I’m creative. This is good because I can come up with a cool storyline for the cabin, and make fun games and riddles for them to solve! That’s why I think I should be a leader this session. 5. I’m good at organization and I make a to-do list every day. I sometimes wait until the last day to get things done, but when I do, I’ll spend lots of time trying to catch up and finish as quickly as possible. I will manage my schedule by spending more time on Scratch than usual, but not so much that I don’t have time for my personal life. 6. I’d be okay with any cabin, but I’d do best in Starlit Slopes, Mystical Forest, and Sunset Island because I feel I could make a more immersive storyline. I’d also be fine with Undersea Realm and Crystal Palace, but I’d prefer one of the first three. Disco Cabin wouldn't be my first choice, and I’d prefer not to lead it. 7. If chosen as a leader, my goal would be to create a positive and fun environment for all campers. I think that by providing an atmosphere that is both enjoyable and supportive, campers will feel inspired to reach their goals and encouraged to have a good time. I believe that having fun is an essential aspect of any camp experience. By incorporating games, group activities, and other forms of entertainment, we can create an atmosphere that is both enjoyable and rewarding for all campers. This will not only increase their motivation to succeed but also help them build lasting memories and friendships. One way I plan to accomplish this is by incorporating games and activities every week. For instance, I would create games that are tailored to specific goals each camper may have set for themselves, such as reading more books, writing more pages, or practicing a new skill. By making these activities fun and engaging, campers will be more motivated to put in the effort needed to achieve their goals. All in all, my goal as a leader would be to create an environment that supports campers in achieving their goals while also providing them with a fun and memorable experience. By combining these two elements, I believe we can have a great session that campers will want to return to year after year. 8. I think I will gain an understanding of responsibility and leadership after this, which is very important if I ever decide to lead again or even host! Some of my goals would be to learn something new about myself, such as my capabilities, and to make a safe and fun space for my campers.
