⬫◊ Chapter 16: Secrets ◊⬫ The morning after Harry and Ava's unusual and crazy arrival at the Burrow, everyone present had become accustomed to their presence. After all, what are a couple more guests in such a big, crowded house? Even Aurora, who had always been the only daughter of a single woman, enjoyed the Weasleys' family atmosphere. It would have been impossible to deny that they were lovely people, even after all the chores Molly had given them as punishment for leaving with the car without warning. In fact, that had only served to make Aurora feel like one more. And that feeling… it was something she valued more than anything. She was almost sorry to have to leave when Remus appeared at the house door, but she certainly couldn't deny that she also enjoyed the peace of mind that her godfather gave her... even though she was still convinced that he was hiding something. “I've missed you, little one” Remus said, giving her a big hug as soon as the Ravenclaw appeared in the hall. “Are you leaving now? Don’t you have to work… a little more?” Ginny asked as she walked down the stairs. “I was close to getting information out of Aurora…” “You wish!” said the aforementioned, rolling her eyes playfully. Remus laughed, amused at their attitude and was about to answer when he saw the girl who was following her. He stared at her for a split second before shaking his head and directing his gaze back to the redhead. “You can continue talking next time. I'll have to be gone once more before the summer is over" However, Aurora, without even intending to, was able to hear his thoughts *It can't be... Ava Potter. By Merlin's beard, she is just like her parents* Aurora, confused, gave him one of her silver gazes, with which she examined so deeply that it seemed as if she could pierce his soul. 'Intimidating', as Ron had said, was the best way to describe them. *Great. Another thing he hasn't told me* she thought. Lupin, realizing this, sighed. *If you keep listening, we have to talk* For her part, Ginny would have continued trying to convince him to stay another hour, but her plans were thwarted when she heard Harry's voice approaching from the next room. “Uh… okay, you're right. See you, Arie!” she was quick to say, and after hugging her friend, she ran up the stairs. They could still make out her voice from upstairs. “Ava, are you coming?” Aurora laughed and, although she hadn't had time to gain trust with Ava, she approached to hug her goodbye, to whisper a small warning. “Ask her to go down to the living room before she starts talking about your brother” Ava nodded with a soft laugh and walked upstairs. “See you soon, Aurora!” Once home, Remus placed a tablecloth on the rickety garden table, as usual. He grabbed a couple of juices from the fridge and opened a chocolate bar, sitting across from Aurora. “About earlier… I've been thinking that you should take legilimency classes. It's obvious that your skills have developed in these weeks and I think it would be interesting-” “That's not what we have to talk about” she cut off unceremoniously. Normally she didn't like to be impertinent, but she was tired of so much secrecy. “You keep hiding things from me” Remus sighed, remembering the last similar conversation they had. “Yes, Aurora, I met the Potters. They were my friends too…” “I'm not just talking about that” she interrupted again, looking directly at him. “Why don't you tell me where you go when you take me to the Weasleys… every four weeks exactly? I'm not a baby, I know it's not because of work" Remus looked at her, knowing he couldn't hide it any longer, since she wouldn't stop until she knew the truth. “A perceptive girl, yeah… you remind me a lot of your mother. Look, I propose a deal. You go to those classes and I'll tell you everything you want to know. Okay?" Aurora took a while to answer, trying to evaluate if he truly intended to do his part. She finally nodded, satisfied, because, what Lupin didn't know was that she was going to accept the classes anyway. What could be wrong with them? "Good. I'll let Dumbledore know... oh, and before I forget, I found this while tidying up this morning. I think you should have it.” Remus picked up a small photo album that she hadn't noticed until then. “Show it to Harry and Ava the next time you see them” Aurora opened it to the first page, and she froze, staring at the magical photograph. A group of teenagers a little older than her were smiling from what could not have been anything other than the Gryffindor common room. A young Remus was sitting on the couch next to a redhead with the same green eyes as Ava, both with a book in their hands. There was another shorter boy next to them, but it wasn't him who caught Aurora's attention... but the girl with brown curls who was applying lip gloss on the floor and the boy with light skin and silver eyes who was trying, laughing, to take off the glasses of an almost exact copy of Harry Potter himself. Her parents.
