I'd heard of it before @griffpatch made his tutorial on it, but his tutorial is what gave me the inspiration. I was originally going to make a game about buying toys and making them softer by squishing them, then selling them again. But they looked boring, so I made something that reacted to you petting it, and it was a lot more fun to have something so expressive. The gooey cat is similar to my original idea, because he starts out very rigid, and gets softer as you squish him. This project took a few months of infrequent work, but it wasn't difficult. It's just meant to be a satisfying game for relaxation.
