how to speak k-pop (vocab that fans use) ♡ aegyo- to act or look cute ㅤex. "asking (idol) to do aegyo" or "who has the best aegyo in the group?" ♡ ace (also all-rounder)- an idol who excels in all three things- dance, rap, and vocals ㅤex. "(idol) is truly their group's ace" or "(idol) is the definition of an all-rounder" ㅤ ♡ album- a collection of songs from an idol (group) that all came out at the same time or a pack that includes a cd with those songs and usually other merchandise relating to the group or the collection of songs ㅤex. "the new album that (idol group) came out with is very good" or "i just bought an album from (idol group)" ♡ all-kill- when a song or album is simultaneously in the top spot of all eight korean music charts ㅤex. "i heard that (idol group) just got a perfect all-kill with their new song" ♡ anti- someone who dislikes a specific idol (group) ㅤex. "there are many toxic (idol group) antis" ♡ bias- your favorite member in a group, or the act of having a member as your favorite ㅤex. "i bias (idol) from (idol group)" or "my bias from (idol group) is (idol)" ♡ bias wrecker- your next favorite member in the group, after your bias ㅤ"my bias wrecker in (idol group) is (idol)" or "im being bias wrecked by (idol)" ♡ big three- the biggest three entertainment companies (YG, JYP, and SM entertainment) ㅤex. "(idol) is not from one of the big three" ♡ b-side- a track (song) from an album that is not the most important song or not the song that fits the concept best, usually does not have a music video ㅤex. "my favorite b-side in this album was (song)" ♡ comeback- when a group releases a new album ㅤex. "the (idol group) comeback is next month" or "(idol group) is having a comeback soon" ♡ daebak- wow (can be used both regularly and sarcastically) ㅤex. "he really did a lot for this idol group... daebak" ♡ daesang- a very good award a group can win that is based on their sales ㅤex. "(idol group) won the daesang award at the golden disk awards" ♡ debut- when an idol (group) releases their first song(s) ㅤex. "the new girl group is debuting soon" ♡ disband- when a group breaks up or stops promoting together ㅤ ex. "(idol group) is set to disband this year" ♡ eye smile- a smile where the eyes turn into cresents when they laugh or smile ㅤex. "(idol) has a very cute eye smile" ♡ fandom- the fan club of a group that is usually named sometime after debut ㅤex. "(idol group)'s fandom is very nontoxic" ♡ generation/gen- a group is sorted by "generation" based on which seven-year time frame they debuted in ㅤ ex. "4th gen had some of the best idol debuts" ♡ hiatus- a break from activities like promoting (with the group) or participating in recording ㅤex. "(idol group) is on a two-year hiatus" or "(idol) is on hiatus from (idol group)" ♡ hoobae- a younger idol (group) ㅤ ex. "(idol group) and their hoobaes (idol group) are very close" ♡ hyung- older male ㅤex. "(idol) is (idol)'s hyung" or "hyung, can you help me do this?" ♡ it boy / it girl- an idol that is considered to be the top idol of their gender, sometimes also sorted more carefully by generations ㅤex. "(idol) is the 4th gen it girl" ♡ lightstick- a stick with a bulb at the top that lights up, usually with the group's design or logo in/on it that is used to wave around at concerts ㅤex. "i really like (idol group)'s new lightstick" ♡ maknae- the youngest in a group ㅤex. "(idol group)'s maknae is very talented" ♡ netz/netizen- an international fan on the internet. korean fans are referred to as k-netizens or k-netz for short ㅤex. "netizens are not making much sense these days" ♡ noona- older female ㅤex. "(idol) is (idol)'s noona" or "noona, can you help me do this?" ♡ nugu- a group that is not very well known ㅤex. "(idol group) is one of my favorite nugu groups" ♡ oppa- used by females to address an older male ㅤex. "i should call (idol) oppa" or "oppa, can you help me do this?" ♡ pabo- stupid ㅤex. "if you believe bullying scandals, you truly are a pabo" ♡ position- what a member does in a group ㅤex. "an (idol)'s position could be rapper, dancer, vocalist, visual, maknae, or leader." ♡ rookie, monster rookie- a rookie group is a new group, and a monster rookie is a new group that is doing very well ㅤex. "(idol group) are truly monster rookies" ♡ saranghae(yo)- i love you ㅤex. "i want to tell (idol group) saranghae" or "saranghaeyo!" ♡ sasaeng- a creepy and obsessed "fan" that usually borders (if not crosses into) stalking ㅤex. "(idol) had some bad sasaengs during her time with (idol group)" ♡ soloist- an idol who does not promote with a group ㅤex. "(idol) is a very successful soloist" ♡ stan- a fan who likes an idol (group) very much. while it originates from STalker + FAn, it is used much more loosely. ㅤex. "i am a big (idol group) stan" ♡ streaming- watching an idol (group)'s videos or listening to their music ㅤex. "stream (song) by (idol)!" ↓
