Waves I run as fast as I can. Gravity holds me back from going as fast as I needed to. I can see her walking. Even though she isn’t going very far, I feel like I’ll never make it to her. She feels so far. Someone shouts at me from behind, but I don't care. I have to get to her. I have to. She gets closer and closer to the edge of the pier. I scream her name, but her mind is too far to hear me. She keeps walking steadily. I sprint faster than I ever have before. I get close enough and grab her hand. The world spins. “Please. I’m sorry. Don’t do this. If you do this, you might never come back. I might never see you again. Do you hear me!?!” I get desperate. I have to make her stay. She has to hear me! She just looks out to the water with tranquility. “Please! Don’t! You can’t!” Her eyes are heavy and her mind is far away. "No! Please." Tears stream down my face. I hold on to her as much as I can. “They need me,” she breathes. “Please there has to be another way,” I cry out. “I can bear to lose you again!” I squeeze her hands in mine. I try to pull her back. “I have to. They need me.” She kisses me and looks me in the eyes. “I need you.” My heart hurts. My head hurts. Everything hurts. “I love you.” She breaks away.
