Pesto : Pesto is a King penguin chick living in Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium who gained notability in September 2024 due to his exceptionally large size Note:Pesto no longer looks like the sprite which is based of him in september/october ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sir Nils Olav III: Sir Nils Olav lll is a king penguin living at the Edinburgh zoo and is the Mascot of the Norwegian kings guard and only knighted penguin, he is also the holder of Guinness World Records as the highest-ranking penguin. additionally he is the third Sir Nils and is Baron of Bouvet island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lala The penguin: Lala was a pet penguin owned by the Nishimoto's after He was caught in a fishing net and was nurtured back to health by the Nishimoto's . After recovery he refused to leave them and became a pet which he would get an airconditioned room. Lala accompanied Nishimoto to the fish market daily and eventually began making the trip on his own with a specially made backpack. Sadly he would pass away in 1996 due to old age. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snowflake: Snowflake was the only a leucistic Gentoo penguin at the Edinburgh zoo ,He hatched in 1996. He has passed away on Nov6, 2024. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grape-kun: Grape-kun was a Humboldt penguin at Tobu Zoo in Miyashiro, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. His attachment to a cutout of Hululu, an anthropomorphic Humboldt penguin character from the 2017 anime series Kemono Friends, earned him international fame and an online fan base. After travelling about 3,200 kilometres (2,000 mi) to get there from Antarctica, After eating sand at the beach and filling his stomach with it, he was transported to Wellington Zoo and was given a 50 per cent chance of survival. The zoo removed the sand and kept him there for 10 weeks to recover. he was later released in the Southern Ocean on 4 September 2011, about 79 kilometres (49 mi) north of Campbell Island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sphen and magic: Sphen and Magic were two male gentoo penguins at the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. After meeting in 2018, they adopted and raised two chicks together, becoming internationally famous and symbolic for the Australian gay rights movement . In 2024, following a deterioration in Sphen's health, the aquarium's veterinary team euthanised him to end his discomfort and pain. Zoo staff brought Magic to his side to mourn; he sang, which was echoed by the other 45 penguins in the colony.
