Space/Click for the next character Whoa! At the time I'm writing this, it's New Year's Day! And my resolution (more like a goal I generally have and am using 2024 as an excuse) is to draw more and post it! I've been watching a lot of Lavendertowne who creates a bunch of character designs so here's Months as different characters :D (This is a work in progress, there is currently 5/12 months) Commentary January: I wanted this character to look like they have a lot of goals. One of the main things about January is the new year, and we make resolutions, so this year, January's resolution is to get stronger! January gets it's name from the roman god Janus, who had one face looking into the past and one into the future. The hourglass in their one of their eyes represents the past and the pixels in the other represent the future! Also I like to think that they stayed up late, woke up with bedhead and are FULLY PREPARED to do anything, hence the messy hair February: AAAAHH!! There's not much to work off of for this one! I was very tempted to just use valentine's day as my main inspiration here, and I honestly kinda did, but I also incorporated a fish in her eye as a reference to the roman festival Februa, which I kinda just went with because apparently it relates to Pisces, which is the fish sign, but I feel like February is very much a teenager here March: Once again, not a lot to go off of here. This is my birth month, but this guy looks VERY different from me. I gave him a green shirt and a cake to sort of reference St. Patrick's Day, but that's about it. Oh, also, his eyes are a reference to the month that March is named after, which is named after the roman god of war, so he has blood in his eyes >:3 April: So for the holiday here, I went with April Fools, so she's up to something. I wanted her to look like she's saying "No, just open it. It's fine, there's nothing in it." This is also the reason she's got a box of fireworks. Her eyes are because April's name comes from the Latin word for "to open", like flowers do in spring. As for the pegleg, I have no real reason for that. While undoing parts in my sketch, I accidentally deleted her shin, and I just ran with it. You can assume she lost it in a prank gone wrong. May: I hadn't a really good idea here. I live in the U.S. and there aren't very many holidays in May over here, so I went with Mother's day. Her eyes reference the roman goddess she is named after, Maia, who oversaw the growth of plants. In the Months as Characters story, she is the mom of the friend group and also April's cousin. Their only real similarity is in their eyes, so they aren't THAT closely related
I will be adding 1 character per day! There will be no lighting because I'm lazy and this is my first project of the year (taking a break until Monday)
