STORY: In the year 4000, a 10-year-old kid called Jimmy living in Orlando is in his house, playing his portable hologram. His favourite game is Slime Dodge! His high score was 53679. Jimmy wasn't sure how he got that score, but he did. He thought he should go outside, he hadn't for a while. Jimmy grabbed his Hover-Scooter. It looks like a normal scooter but without wheels. It started up, and off went Jimmy! He flew all-around town. "WAHOOOOO!" cheered Jimmy. He had a Sport Hover-Scooter, so it had feet holders and straps. He was doing loops and dives. Little did Jimmy know that the battery was running out. 100%, 75% ,50%, 25% then finally, 0%. The scooter slowed down mile by mile and then SCREECH! It completely stopped. "Oh No!" thought Jimmy as his scooter fell and fell. He landed. Jimmy looked around. He wasn't in Orlando anymore. He was far off. Jimmy looked around; this was a normal city, but it was empty and had blue goo everywhere. He saw a sign, it read "Wolverhampton! Home of the Wolves!". Jimmy's jaw dropped. "I thought this city was a myth!" he thought. He was extremely excited and wanted to explore the city! Jimmy took his first step and heard gargling and squelching sounds. "It's probably nothing." he thought. He was running all around the city, exploring and trying to find a charging point for his scooter. He heard more and more noises. Finally, Jimmy found a power plant. This was covered in goo. "Why is there so much goo!?" Jimmy said to himself. He walked into the power plant and turned on the energy generator. The scooter was on 5% battery. He decided to walk around to pass the time. Jimmy would know when it's charged because the scooter is connected to his watch. The noises became louder, louder and louder and then he was looking at a door. It said, "KEEP OUT!". The noises were very loud. Jimmy opened the door. A massive, blue goo monster stared at him. His watch beeped; the scooter was charged. Jimmy noticed the monster was asleep he stepped back a bit, his shoe got stuck and he tripped. The monster woke up quickly. It had one eye. Jimmy ran with the creature slithering on his trail. The scooter was there with 100% charge. He hopped on and flew away at 999 MPH. The creature didn't make it in time. Jimmy was back at home. He got his portable hologram and went back on Slime Dodge. "Yes! 654289, a new high score!" he laughed.
This was entered in the BBC 500-Words comp but didn't make it through the first round.
