Chapter One: As the classroom door swung open, a chorus of snickers filled the room, striking fear into my heart. I stood frozen, my wings pressed tightly against my back, while Mrs. Shaya attempted to restore order. My hands sank deeper into my pockets as I fought back tears, my heart pounding relentlessly. "Alright, class, we have a new student joining us today. This is Royalty Baker," Mrs. Shaya announced. The snickers grew louder, and I struggled to hold back my emotions. "Is she... crying?" a student jeered, prompting the entire class to burst into laughter, except for one boy with gentle eyes. He shot a cutting glare at the student, his arms crossed in frustration. I wiped away my tears and found an empty seat beside the boy. He nudged my shoulder playfully and looked at me. "Hey," he whispered, "don't worry about them. They're just bullies with nothing better to do. Stick with me, I'm Ash Everest. You seem like a nice kid." His words elicited a scrunching of my nose. Did he just call me a "kid"? We were practically the same age, if not younger. Despite his confident demeanor, he seemed like a cool person underneath. Math class felt like an eternity, even though it was only 30 minutes. Afterwards, I moved on to Social Studies, my foot still throbbing from tripping over my own feet earlier. In my mind, my feet appeared enormous, so I would cross them under my chair to hide them, seeking comfort. The atmosphere in Social Studies was cold and dark, sending shivers down my spine. I despised the class. The discomfort persisted in Language Arts, whether due to the people or other factors. I eventually gave up trying to feel at ease and simply endured my misery. The following day, I decided to change my schedule, unable to bear another day in Mrs. Shaya's last-period class. She kindly accommodated my request and moved me to her first-period class, which happened to be an advanced math class. To my surprise, Ash was also transferred there, but despite his presence, I still felt a sense of loneliness. One month passed, and the story continues.
[] -Medieval Fanasty- [] [] -Modern Times- [] This is a background of a future series so I am making the Embers series long but short. It would be 100 pages long but have many different scenes and stuff so it would go through the story quickly. Also, I have gotten the things I need to make one of these episodes into a graphic series so I will work on that. *This story is based in medieval times (because why not?) but has a little bit of modern-times concepts that wouldn't be in a typical medieval fantasy.*
