four books :) ' spoilers below ' Hunger Games It's the reaping and all of District 12 is there when Katniss's sister, who only had one paper, gets chosen. After Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place she meets Peeta Mellark and has to learn how the Capitol works and what she needs to do to win the Hunger Games. When she's in the arena she believes Peeta has betrayed her but they end on good terms and eventually find a way to both survive the Games. Catching Fire After both surviving the Games Peeta and Katniss have to keep the act of loving each other in front of the Capitol. They must also behave how the president wants them to so their family and friends are okay. After their victory tour, it is announced that the previous victors will go into the arena again and Katniss has to figure out how to protect Peeta again. However instead of just one person winning the games the rebels can save Katniss from the arena however they aren't able to get Peeta. Mockingjay Out of the Games and Districts Katniss has to lead the revolution without Peeta and learn how District 13 works. After shooting some "ads" District 13 saves Peeta and Katniss and other soldiers storm the Capitol. After successfully taking control Katniss has to make a very difficult decision. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes It's the tenth Hunger Games and young President Snow has to mentor a girl from District 12 to try and win a scholarship to help him go to college and pay for his family's house. When the gamemakers find out Snow cheated to win the games they force him to become a Peacemaker in the Districts. This gives him the opportunity to get to spend time with Lucy Gray however he chooses the Capitol over her and she runs away.
