Had to draw em, I mean, they are pretty cute <3 He didn't say what kind exactly, but I'm pretty sure a long time ago he said he likes beagles, and that he used to have a few of them for hunting deer and squirrels 01/04/2024 (re-account of a small conversation, scroll for more context!) "Well..I think i like hound dogs alright" "Hound dogs?" "..Yea?" "You like hound dogs?" "Mm, yea i recon so.. yea" "Why do you like them?" "Well..first of all they hunt with me sometimes, and they got a good nose on those suckers...and they got them long funny ears, they hear real good don't you think?" My grandfather that I live with has been slowly declining in mental and physical health here recently, he used to be very stubborn, never wanted to accept help, and honestly just a silly ol' lad, but now he's weak, in pain, and slowly loosing consciousness, and most importantly, his memory. I've been thinking of different and unique ways to exercise his memory, and keep him active when I can, yesterday, I showed him some weird chicken nugget toys from McDonalds, I showed him their names, and what they are and what they do, and he reacted, but it was a lot of hard to understand gibberish/mumbling for the most part, but then when i explained that one was a "mayor" he brutally roasted that chicken nugget/j "him?...mayor? he don't look like no mayor haha!"
Photos used for reference and color and in the project I have been looking into psychology and learning about it for a while, I'm hoping to be a psychologist one day! I think that my new understanding about how the mind works and the causes of many behaviors may help me keep my grandpas memory as strong as I can, I'm keeping track of these so I don't repeat strategies too often, and I can see how he reacts to a exercise the second time
