Thinking about it, it was very petty for her to fuss about this. It was just odd coming from Maddie, who had always been by her side for nearly 12 years. Just then, Cho came into the room with tea. "You ok?" she asked, setting the tea on her side table. "N- y-yeah." Cho then opened the door again, about to leave, but Sakura stopped her, "wait." "Yeah?" Sakura explained what had happened, and how she needed her help. She told her about the invite to the vacation, the voice she heard and everything. "...so do you think she is a," she shuddered at the thought of it, "fake friend?" "You never know," said Cho, getting up from the bed, "sometimes the people you trust the most turn out bad in the end." Sakura knew Cho was only trying to help, but this made it worse. The thought of Maddie "turning out bad" was horrifying to Sakura. She thought of Maddie as a kind, energetic, enthusiastic, trustworthy friend, not a secret keeper, fake friend, and other terrible things. Eventually, she ended up falling asleep while thinking about this. Next morning, she was woken by her phone ringing. Sakura picked it up without seeing who it was, but soon found out it was Maddie. "So, are you ready for the trip?" "W-wha-" said Sakura, confused. "The trip to Florida, that we invited you to." "But that was next Friday!" yelled Sakura, getting up. "Didn't you get my text?" asked Maddie. "What tex- oh- now I did..." replied Sakura, scrolling through their texts. "Well hurry up, will you? We're coming in fifteen minutes." said Maddie, hanging up the phone. "FIFTEEN MINUTES-" Sakura didn't have time to think, she threw random clothes in a suitcase, brushed her teeth, and picked out a purse. Then she went through her clothes to find her best clothes (she wanted to impress Michael). She ended up settling on jeans and a white top. Just as she barely put on her shoes, the doorbell rang. "Hey!" said Maddie from the front seat. Sakura hated it when Maddie sat in the front seat, because that meant Max was driving. If Max is driving, that meant Michael and Avery were sitting in the back seat, which meant Sakura had to sit next to Michael or Avery, which was extremely awkward for her. Luckily, she never had to sit in the middle seat, because Avery couldn't bear to be a seat away from Michael. When she entered the car, Avery was in the middle seat. They put Sakura's small suitcase in the trunk with the other's stuff. When they reached the airport, Max's brother was waiting for them. He helped them take all their suitcases out and took the car back. Soon, they were waiting for the plane. There were not any seats left, so they had to sit on the rug. Eventually, they were able to get on to their plane. Sakura's seat was alone, without anyone she knew. The row opposite her was Michael and Avery's though. Max and Maddie were lucky to get a seat 2 rows behind (so they wouldn't be next to Avery). Sakura tried to stop herself from repeatedly looking at Michael. The family next to her had a baby, making it really loud. Fortunately, Sakura's seat was the window seat so she wasn't stuck in the middle. Maddie waved at Sakura, smiling. Sakura waved back, remembering what had happened yesterday. She decided that she was going to ask Maddie what happened. Sure, she might sound like a first grader fussing over getting the watermelon flavored candy, not strawberry but it felt important to her. A couple hours later, they arrived. All of their suitcases were small, so they didn't have to go through baggage claim. Sakura expected Avery's family to come pick them up, because at this point she thought it was not Maddie who planned the trip, but Avery. However, she was surprised when she saw Maddie rushing to hug a lady who looked like she was in her middle ages. "Meet Aunt Whaley," she said to the rest of them. "Hello!" replied Aunt Whaley. "We must get going then? It's getting pretty cold out here." Everyone nodded, and went in the car. The car was crowded, because 4 people had to sit in the back this time. By the time they reached Aunt Whaley's house, it was nearly 11PM. Maddie and Sakura had their own room, which meant privacy while Sakura asked Maddie. Avery was in the other room with Michael. "Mads- Er- Can I ask you something?" "Sure. What's up?" said Maddie, putting down her phone and turning to Sakura. "I-I've been thinki-" "Everyone get to bed! I need to be up early..." called Aunt Whaley. Sakura sighed. "What?" whispered Maddie, walking to turn off the lights. "I'll tell you later," replied Sakura. to be continued!
