Lately, I've been seeing a lot of therians claim that you have to be born as a therian to be a therian, and while it is true that your experiences are involuntary and not a choice, you don't have to be born as one. Claiming that you have to be born with your non-human experiences (then later chose to identify as the animal) in order to be a therian actually invalidates a large portion of psychological therians due to theories such as imprinting, defense development, and some other theories that all occur after birth. Just because someone developes their therianthropy and involuntary experiences later in life for any reason doesn't make them any less of a therian. Just because they aren't born as a therian doesn't mean that they are invalid.
