You can get yelled at it BOTH languages! :D Mother: Claire que te pasa, you complete idiota! It's twice the fun :'D 4. Family gatherings are "super" easy! Distant family member: Aymiraquelindaessoloquieropellizcarlelasmejillas, ¿estaesdelasamericanas? ¡Sontanadorable! Me: Oh gracias tia, como estas? Like I said "easy"! 5. You never get mocked for your american/spanish accent! Stranger: Why's your accent so american when you speak spanish and so spanish when you speak english? Me: Idk Like I said, you NEVER get mocked! 6. You never get told you are very white!* Random tia/tio: Oh mi niña, your skin is blanca como el papel. Thanks tia/tio, I'm aware I'm whiter than paper! 7. People NEVER assume that you're not from America! Stranger: What's mexico like? Me: I don't know, never been Stranger:.... aren't you from there? 8. People always like it when you speak spanish! Friend: Claire, I love you man, but please stop speaking spanish around us Me: Okay :'D 9. There's NEVER a language barrier between you and friends and family! Friend and family: Claire I don't understand certain words when you speak spanglish! 10. Accents are my expertise! I can defiently do an impeccable spanish and american accent! Certain words totally aren't messed up! 11. I can defintely pronounce things perfectly in both languages! I would "never" struggle with the alphabet or pronunciation! 12. There's definetly never pressure to do everything right with the languages! I never feel pressure to apply the right rules to each language! 13. I never mess up how to speak the languages! Me: Walk someone else in your shoes! Friend: Did you mean, walk in someone elses shoes? Me: Yeah, but I said it right 14. And most importantly, the families all get along!* English family: I don't understand why our daughter married them Latinx family: I don't understand why our son married them Me: This is going to end swell/j Note: not all of these are true for people of multiple backgrounds (some of them aren't even true for me, like 6, I'm very dark and I look latinx but my primos and sister have both been told this many times) and a lot of these are struggles most people feel. I'm also aware that not everyone's latinx (like I am) but it's the easiest one to use so that I can show what it's like, most of these apply to anyone who is bilingual because of family. (14's also one I don't have happen to me, my two families on my parents side love each other, but I know some families scorn their children for marrying other people)
Me for my dysfunctional family This is vey much satire, dont come after me
