BTW CHAPTER 2 ISN'T DONE!!!!! I'm gonna post the rest later (Scroll down for Chapter two lol) Chapter One I woke up to the sound of rocks pattering on my window. Squinting at the ceiling, I rubbed my eyes, and pulled myself up. My eyes still only half open, I opened the window with a rather loud screech, and winced. My eyes suddenly opened fully when I saw a certain blonde, messy haired, boy. “Jasper? What’re you doing here, at,” I glanced at my alarm clock, a white and black clock, with LED rainbow digits. “3:00 A.M IN THE MORNING?” Jasper’s face looked sheepish for a second, but flickered back to his usual smirk. “You weren’t at school today! Where the heck were you?” I had been at my sister’s wedding, but it felt more like a funeral, when I watched her go down the aisle, and I knew that we wouldn’t be hanging out anymore like the good old days. “Just a wedding.” I replied, not telling him that it was more like the end of my life. But when Jasper’s expression changed to a skeptical, suspicious, look, I knew that I wasn’t getting out of this. “C’mon, I’m your bestie, aren’t I?” Jasper said, with a rather teasing voice. “It was my sister’s wedding,” I said with a sigh. Before I could finish, I could tell Jasper knew what was coming. I sighed, and said to Jasper, “Good night Jasper.” Looking slightly concerned, he replied, “G’night Lily.” Chapter Two I descended down the stairs rather slowly, not wanting to see my sister with her new husband. When I finally shuffled into the kitchen, I was suddenly hit by the strong smell of coffee, and I wrinkled my nose. Evelyn finally noticed me, and greeted me with a smile, but it seemed too distant. “Good morning, Lily! Wanna have a cup of coffee?” I smiled, because I knew that I was technically not allowed to have coffee until I was 16, but I nodded. Coffee was gross, but I liked the feeling of being rebellious. “Evelyn! Stop trying to caffeinate my daughter!” My mother hissed. Evelyn rolled her eyes, and when Mom wasn’t watching, winked, and poured me a mug anyway. I smiled for real, as Evelyn slid the cup across the table. I raised the mug to my lips, and sipped the coffee, wincing at the bitter taste. Evelyn snorted at my distaste, causing her coffee to come out of her nose. Watching her laugh made me cough my coffee up too, causing us to laugh harder. Mom turned around to see us snorting coffee, and grunted, “Evelyn…” But her eyes were laughing
For the first time, I noticed that David wasn’t there. Confused, I questioned, “Where is your beloved husband?” Evelyn frowned when she heard my bitter tone. “He went to pick up some strawberries for the party later tonight.” I sighed. Tonight, we were going to have the after wedding party. I wasn’t exactly excited for it. I stomped into the school building, heading straight for the library before school. Once I got into the library, I shrugged off my backpack, letting it hit the floor with a thump, causing everyone to look up. My face went pink, but my embarrassment wore off quickly. I shuffled around my backpack, trying to find my books. I grunted, and kicked my backpack, annoyed, because I must’ve left my books at home. I strode into the maze of bookshelves, and inhaled the smell of paper. I grabbed a copy of “Keeper Of The Lost Cities” and plopped down on one of the ancient beanbags. I let myself float into the world of Sophie Foster’s world, leading myself into the world of elves. Before I could get far, the bell rang, signaling that I had to go to class. I sighed, not quite as angry, but still annoyed. I put the book back onto the shelf, and hoisted my backpack onto my shoulder, letting it hang on one shoulder. I staggered through the halls, dreading class. Once I entered the classroom, Mr. Pratt stomped towards my direction, handing me a monstrous pile of homework. “I was only gone for one day!” I complained, but Mr. Pratt returned my wailing with a glare. “And that one day, Miss Chen, was a very busy day.” Jasper snuck up to Mr. Pratt’s back, and gave him bunny ears as he lectured me about how I should never miss a day of school, or there would be consequences, and blah blah blah. I snorted, and Mr. Pratt gave me a bewildered look, clearly unaware that he was currently a rabbit. To avoid being discovered, Jasper tapped him on the shoulder, and urged Mr. Pratt, “Yo, Pratt, when are we gonna start the new unit in math?” Mr. Pratt’s face went red, and replied, “Mr. Beckett, that’s 3 days of detention for you! When talking to adults, you must use Mr., or Mrs., or Ms. Do you understand?” Trying not to snort, Jasper nodded. But he couldn’t keep a grin off of his face. Mr. Pratt muttered something about how impolite children are these days, and no manners whatsoever. After he left, Jasper and I bursted into laughter. “I can’t believe you gave him BUNNY ears! Sorry, I’ll join you for detention.” “It’s alright. It was worth it.” he laughed. “MR. BECKETT, MAKE THAT 1 MORE DAY OF DETENTION, AND MISS CHEN, YOU WILL JOIN HIM. SIT DOWN ALREADY!” Me and Jasper hit ours seats like magnets, and we happened to sit right next to each other, so we kept on giggling like 5 year olds who had eaten too much sugar. Zara plopped down on the other side of me. “Hey girlyyyy!” Zara was my other good friend, who was the kinda kid who was texting whenever she could. I didn’t have a phone yet, so I didn’t get her. Zara often talked in slang, like, “IDK, or IK, TBH,” and all of that stuff. “Can you come over today? I got a new set of nail polish!” I sighed. “No, I have detention.” Instead of being weirded out that I have detention like most classes would, Zara nodded, understanding. Mr. Pratt could be very... strict. “Tomorrow?” “Still have detention.” I replied. Zara winced, and looked at me like a body about to get buried. “Good luck, ig, then…” Confused at her use of slang, I nodded, and pretended I absolutely knew what she was saying. I pulled out my math notebook and started doodling towers that contained a girl with very long hair. Her face seemed lonely, and trapped, just like mine. I scribbled over it before Mr. Pratt could find it and add another day of detention. The final bell rang, and I had to pull out my Math notebook for real. As Mr. Pratt tortured my classmate, I ripped out the scribbled upon tower, and Mr. Pratt proceeded to the front of the room. Mr. Pratt clapped his hands, louder than should be humanly possible. Everyone’s heads whipped to the front of the room, and every single conversation in the room went silent. Except for one. Zara and Briley, at the end of the room, were still chatting about who knows what. “MISS RILEY! MISS ZANE!” Their heads too, whipped around to face Mr. Pratt, but they did it too late. Mr. Pratt’s face looked ready to explode, and Zara’s looked ready to explode in tears. Zara squeaked, “Mr. Pratt-” but, Mr. Pratt interrupted with a booming, “YOU TWO, THE OFFICE, RIGHT NOW.” Zara’s face went pink, and her hand dropped. She rose, but did it slowly. She left the room, with Briley trailing behind. But, I could’ve sworn I saw a tear leak, right as she let the door shut behind her.
