◦°☆ Chapter nine: The moving staircase ☆°◦ “The Gryffindor first-years! Here!” said a loud and proud voice. They looked back. In the corner stood a girl. She shouted again “Gryffindor first-years! COME HERE!!! I am a prefect so COME HERE!!!” “Oh, I thought we could talk a bit to Chris…” said Ava “Yea, same me.” said Rose “Uhum…” sight Lily. They walked up to the prefect. “So, you are a prefect? What’s that?” asked Ava. “Oh, it means that he can boss you around!” said irritably Rose “No, a Prefect at Hogwarts is a student who enjoys a level of seniority over the other students, complete with a Prefect badge. One male and one female student in their fifth year from each house are chosen for the role of Prefect.” “Wow, that's a big explanation!” said Lily. “I like to be exact.” “So, what do you want us to do?” “Just follow me.” “Ok, wy?” asked Rose “I will guide you to Gryffindor's common room. Just wait a bit till the other students hear me…” “We can help you!” said Lily. She ran over to the table and shouted on top of her voice “Hey, Gryffindor first-years!!! Come here!!!” Some heads turn around. “Done!” she said proudly “Wow, thank you!” thanked the prefect. “Any time! Actually I quite enjoyed that!” When all of the Gryffindor first-years came over they followed up to some staircases. “Be careful! The staircases move around!” shouted the prefect. They step on the first step. Nothing. The second, third and fourth step also nothing, but when they stepped on the fifth step the whole staircase moved. “Aaaaa!” some first-years screamed. “Hold on! In a few seconds it will stop!” shouted the prefect. Ava almost fell when the staircase mowed. She thought that the prefect was just scaring them so she didn’t hold on too well. They held onto the railing and slowly started to climb up the stairs that stopped mowing. Ava’s heart was beating very fast and loudly. She wished that it would stop. “First-years! Please listen! Now we will be coming to the entrance of Gryffindor's common room.” They walked down a passageway and stopped right beside a portrait of a fat lady. “This is the fat lady. She guards the entrance to the common room. You need to say a password. Every week the password is changed. Please remember it or else you won't be able to get inside the common room. This week’s password is Flibbertigibbet. Please repeat after me. Flibbertigibbet.” All of the first-years repeated the password. Rose said Flibbertiget but Ava corrected her. “No Rose! It’s Flibbertigibbet not Flibbertiget!i” “Ok miss I know it all.” said Rose. Rose sometimes was difficult but Ava liked her just like she was. She smiled.
