She looked like she wanted to start running again. As if she were either afraid, unsure, or probably both. I fought against the rushing crowd of people while walking slowly so as not to scare her away. I finally reach her and ask her to walk with me so that I can answer all of her questions. She agrees. She has stopped crying, but will only look at the ground as we talk. I tell her how selfish I was, wanting the extra cash to help pay for a new car. She said nothing. I apologized a hundred times and a hundred times more. Still no answer. Finally I give up. Seeing that she will never forgive me and our ancient love would never resurface again. “Zach…” Her voice, barely above a whisper. “Vanessa?” I awaited her next phrase, saying ‘I hate you and I’ll never forgive you’. I waited for what seemed like hours but was only a few short minutes. After a while I turned to her, and before I knew it, her lips touched mine and I touched Cloud nine. It was too short. She was off like a flash the second it was over. I never saw her face again.
Heyyyy. Hope you liked the end! Stay tuned for the next short story on Saturday :D
