Windfall would bully and take out his anger on his kits, but he would hide it well from their mother. Other than himself and the kits, the only one who knew about the abuse was Rosepaw's friend, Foxpaw. Foxpaw was an ex-kittypet who had been amputated by the 'cutter,' and was missing a leg. They trained together and became very close, trusting each other with anything. The day before Foxpaw's warrior ceremony, Ivyshadow was hit by a 'monster' and killed. Fernpaw had ventured onto the Thunderpath, and a monster had been coming toward her. The queen had pushed her out of the way and taken the hit for herself, saving the young apprentice. Naturally, Windfall was furious. He blamed Fernpaw for the accident and beat her viciously, until she was nothing but a small bloody shape, crying and hardly fighting back. Rosepaw's mentor, Redpetal, had seen this. She confronted him and took the small she-cat to their medicine cat. Sadly, her injuries were too great, and Fernpaw had lost the will to live. The medicine cat could do nothing to save her. Once Windfall had been exposed, he was exiled from the Clan forever. Rosepaw was granted his warrior name at the same time that Foxpaw was, and they were given the names Foxtrip and Rosefeather. The two young toms remained very close friends, and even became mates. Though some cats are disapproving of their relationship, they still love each other and couldn't care less of what the Clan thinks of them.
