I've been watching Monstergarden, WritFinch, ValleyBoar, TreeLancer, and some other YT channels of the like lately (go check them out, they're pretty cool). I've been inspired by their creative writing and illustrating to start creating some of my own works, and this is the one I'm going to be focusing on. There's no name for this story other than "dragon magic worldbuilding thing" yet, but I as the story expands eventually it'll be more complete. Anyways, on to what it actually is. This is a Melarus, which is the word for mage/wizard/witch/etc in this world, the plural being Melari (like the i in cacti). Melari use instruments carved from the bodies of slumbering lovecraftian dragons akin to Cthulhu and other cosmic horrors. The instruments carry very little magic themselves, instead conducting magic in the atmosphere exhaled by the dragons. Magic can be used in various ways, but it is primarily being used for wars. Whether it be between small tribes, powerful companies, or larger nations, the use of magic is being heavily weaponized to a similar technology level of the first World War. The Melarus you see here is a pilot of an ornithopter that drops bombs across the battlefield. The almost-plane uses magic to propel itself forward and stay in the air; the pilot controlling it through a control panel of drums. Extended use of magic takes a toll on the body: limbs stretching and thinning beyond what would logically be able to support the body, horns growing out and on occasion growing back into the skull, hands deforming and losing shape, among other contortions based on the type of instrument and magic being used. I'll be expanding more on this project as time goes on, and I will likely have to create and switch to a YT channel of my own so ST doesn't strike me down for the more... grimmer aspects of it. But for now, you'll see it here. See you soon :) sorry for the 8 hour long rant btw
