Unfortunately Honey passed away yesterday. Despite my research, efforts, and supervision, it was just too hot and dry and she likely passed of dehydration. The bulb was too strong and I’ve been turning it off when the basking spot gets to 100, but I was at my grandparents and my parents were taking care of her and they aren’t able to constantly watch the temperature. I am hoping to cremate her and use her ashes to grow some kind of plant. Maybe an African Violet as she is an African snake and violet attracts bees. I wish I had been able to save her, but at least I can learn from my mistakes and start again with a new snake. She won’t be the same as Honey, but I will probably name her Bee (short for Bumblebee or Honey bee) in honor of Honey. I’ll miss her, and I wish I could have been here to help her and I wish I we could’ve gotten better bulbs sooner, but there’s nothing to do now except learn and move on. I’ll miss you Honey <3
Update, March 20 I got a new egg eater! His name is Bumblebee/Bee after Honey. He’s doing very well, he’s healthy and has eaten twice, he weighs a healthy 46.6g, and he’s absolutely adorable! I will post a new project about him soon!
